Carnuntum

We went to the archeological park Carnuntum today.
It is a Roman excavation site.
 This is the "Heathen Gate".
Before we went into the park we had some fun in the shop.
Carnuntum was a Roman garrison town at the border of the Empire.
 This is a Roman shop.

 The Roman kitchen.
A Roman dining hall for the troops.
These are the colonnades in front of the office buildings.
 Roman graffiti.

 Another kitchen.
A Roman toilet didn't have partitions....
 The baths were very nice.
Chilling on a Roman massage bed.

Then we had lunch along the Danube.

Baden

We went to see my Aunt Traude and Uncle Leo in Baden today.
This is their grandson Tino.
He is playing lego cars with Thomas and Charlie.
This is my cousin Sabine and her daughter Mathilde. They live in Paris.
We had some coffee and cake.
Charlie and my sister and Aunt Traude.
 These are Sabine and Traude.
This is my uncle Leo. He is my mother's brother.
 The kids were playing nicely.
The pictures on the wall are Traude's ancestors.

After the family visit we went to Heuriger Piriwe and had dinner.
Charlie and the poppy seed cake.

Albertina

It was a rainy day. We had a sausage and went to the Albertina.
 Another sphinx.
This is the hall of muses.

 One of the bedrooms.
 We liked the red room.
Then we looked at the Batliner Collection.
Signac is always nice.

Budapest

This morning we got up early and caught the 7:40 am train to Budapest.
This is the train station in Budapest. Beautiful!
We had a great caramel coffee to wake up.
Then we walked down to the Danube.
They had the Red Bull Flight Show.
The planes few under the old Chain Bridge.
And around the Houses of Parliament.
We made it to the Buda side and took the funicular up to the castle.
 The view was really nice.
There are several castles up there,
and also a museum to Ignaz Semmelweis who was
a pioneer of antiseptic procedures and obstetrics.
We walked on the Fischer Bastei.

Charlie was our excellent navigator and brought us back to the train station.
Back in Vienna we had an ice cream at Tichy's.
This is our favorite waitress.
